Elon Musk has risen to become the most significant personality in cryptocurrency, overtaking US President Donald Trump. The highest tiers of crypto influence also feature current and past Congress members. Remarkably, only one non-US politician and a single woman made it onto this influential list.
The evaluation conducted by ApeX Protocol employed data-centric metrics to recognize and rank public figures who wield the most influence in crypto today.
Crypto’s Most Significant Voices Today
Earlier this month, the trading platform ApeX Protocol published a comprehensive analysis pinpointing crypto’s most prominent voices. Their methodology integrated estimated crypto holdings, net worth, and social media outreach.
“What this ranking truly illustrates is that crypto influence isn’t solely dependent on who possesses the largest wallet. It’s also about whose opinions are valued… This blend is what renders the crypto arena particularly distinctive at present. It encompasses not just technology or finance, but also politics, communication, and culture combined,” remarked a spokesperson from ApeX.
Final scores were established based on total followers across X and Instagram, reflecting each individual’s capability to shape public perception and draw attention to the cryptocurrency sector.
1. Elon Musk
The CEO of Tesla and Dogecoin supporter has overtaken President Trump as the most influential political figure in crypto. Musk’s extensive social media following of 221.2 million, where he often shares his crypto perspectives, along with an estimated $2 billion in crypto investments, propelled him to the lead across all criteria.
2. Donald Trump
The current US President secured the second rank. He boasts 142.7 million followers on X and holds the third-largest crypto portfolio, amounting to over $1.3 million. A report by the Democracy Defenders Fund earlier this year indicated that the President’s crypto assets represent 37% of his overall wealth.
3. Nayib Bukele
The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, is the singular non-US politician among the top ten. He possesses an estimated $8.4 million in crypto assets and, after initially making Bitcoin legal tender, he later reversed this decision under pressure from the International Monetary Fund. He actively interacts with his 17.6 million social media followers about crypto.
4. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The incumbent Secretary of Health and Human Services holds $750,000 worth of cryptocurrency in his portfolio. He has a substantial social media presence with nearly 11 million followers.
Kennedy frequently describes Bitcoin as the “currency of freedom.” He views it as a safeguard against inflation for middle-class Americans and believes it can serve as a remedy for the devaluation of the US dollar, which he perceives as being at risk.
5. Ted Cruz
The current US Senator from Texas and former Solicitor General of his state holds approximately $32,500 in cryptocurrency. He has a robust social media presence with 9.1 million followers across X and Instagram.
Cruz strongly champions Texas as a Bitcoin mining and crypto center for employment, innovation, and growth. He advocates Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as essential defenses against governmental control and for financial autonomy, stressing decentralization against overreach, in contrast to Central Bank Digital Currencies.
6. JD Vance
Close behind Senator Cruz, Vice President JD Vance has surfaced as a significant influential figure in cryptocurrency, attaining the sixth position. His influence stems from his role in public office and his considerable social media reach with 6.2 million followers. His estimated crypto holdings of $375,000 place him ahead of many politicians.
Vance asserts that the US should strategically adopt Bitcoin, particularly in light of China’s prohibition on cryptocurrency trading and mining. He argues that Beijing’s opposition to Bitcoin should encourage the US to embrace it.
The Vice President has also praised the US government’s creation of a Strategic Bitcoin reserve and consistently urges the crypto community to remain politically engaged.
7. Madison Cawthorn
Madison Cawthorn, the 29-year-old former Republican US Representative for North Carolina, holds $116,500 in digital assets.
As the youngest individual on this list, he commands a noteworthy social media presence with over 1.18 million followers. Identifying as a constitutional conservative, he showcases crypto’s allure among a new generation of political representatives.
Cawthorn generally supports cryptocurrency. He previously promoted the “Let’s Go Brandon” (LGB) coin, conveying optimistic sentiments such as, “This is going to the moon.” However, his crypto engagements have sparked debate.
In December 2022, the House Ethics Committee determined he improperly endorsed a token in which he held an undisclosed stake and received an “improper gift” through favorable terms.
He also failed to submit timely transaction reports. Although allegations of insider trading were investigated, the Committee concluded that he did not profit from non-public information.
8. Cynthia Lummis
Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis is a prominent champion for cryptocurrency in Congress, often dubbed the “Queen of Crypto,” and is the only female individual on this list to enter the top 10.
She holds an estimated $230,000 in crypto assets and boasts an engaged social media following exceeding 390,000. Lummis presently chairs the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets.
In March 2025, she reintroduced the BITCOIN Act to establish a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. Lummis also co-sponsored the GENIUS Act, which President Trump recently enacted into law.
She supports the CLARITY Act, a bill that, if passed, would create a regulatory framework for digital assets.
9. Francis Suarez
Miami Mayor and “““html
Notable attorney Francis Suarez finds himself in second-to-last position with $10,000 in digital currencies and more than 200,000 followers on social media.
Although situated at the lower end of the wealth spectrum, the Republican mayor has garnered considerable national focus for his vigorous advocacy and ambitious cryptocurrency-oriented projects.
Suarez has proactively chased a vision to establish Miami as the “Bitcoin capital of the world” to stimulate economic development and draw in tech professionals. His endeavors include receiving his salary in Bitcoin and allowing tax payments in cryptocurrency.
He also played a crucial role in the inception of MiamiCoin and actively seeks out crypto enterprises. In spite of market fluctuations, he regards Bitcoin as a “currency of liberty” and a key instrument for economic diversification.
10. Pat Toomey
American entrepreneur and former Representative from Pennsylvania Pat Toomey completes the top ten with nearly $8,000 in cryptocurrency and close to 187,000 followers on social platforms.
As the former Ranking Member of the Senate Banking Committee, Toomey advocated for a clear regulatory framework that differentiates crypto commodities from securities.
Toomey was instrumental in stablecoin legislation, presenting the 2022 Stablecoin TRUST Act to guarantee proper backing and transparency.
Honorable Mentions: Michael Collins and Michael McCaul
Michael Collins, a US Representative from Georgia, possesses an estimated $8,000 in cryptocurrency. While he has only 130,000 followers on social media, his impressive $18.75 million net worth keeps him significant in the wider crypto discussion, placing him just outside the top 10.
Michael McCaul, a US Representative from Texas and the current Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, wraps up the list of influential political figures in crypto.
He holds the third-highest net worth in the ranking, estimated at $200 million. McCaul’s reported crypto assets are linked to those of Michael Collins.
