Telegram has revealed a major enhancement, launching six novel features that improve user experience by incorporating blockchain technology into its platform, as per Telegram’s announcement. This upgrade, dated January 24, 2025, provides innovative methods for users to engage and connect through gifts that can now be worn, transferred to the blockchain, and shared across different channels.
Wear Your Distinctive Gifts
Among the highlighted features is the capability to wear collectible gifts as an emoji status. This feature enables users to convert their gifts into collectibles, which can then be showcased as a sparkling emoji status on their profile. This not only tailors the user’s profile but also infuses a vibrant visual aspect that corresponds with the backdrop and symbol of the collectible gift.
Transfer Gifts to the Blockchain
In a direction that aligns with the increasing trend of blockchain integration, Telegram is now facilitating the transfer or auction of gifts through the TON blockchain. This capability gives users enduring control over their gifts, even if they lose access to their Telegram account. By transferring gifts to a TON wallet, users can link to external services, including auction platforms that provide additional perks for collectibles.
Dispatch Gifts to Channels
Telegram users can now mark special events by sending gifts to channels. These gifts are prominently showcased on the channel’s profile, allowing subscribers to elevate the gift using Stars before dispatching. This enhancement turns the gift into a unique collectible at no additional charge. Channel proprietors can distribute these gifts to other users or channels, or they might opt to auction them on the blockchain, opening a new pathway for fundraising and support for various initiatives.
Distribute and Filter Gifts
Users can share collectible gifts on their stories, creating animated previews that highlight their unique designs. Each gift is accompanied by a distinct link, making it convenient to share with friends or post to channels. Within channel profiles, a new ‘Gifts’ tab enables users to filter gifts by value, collectible status, and other parameters, enriching the browsing experience for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
