Blockstream’s Bold Leap: Revolutionizing Institutional Investment with Billion-Dollar Backing in Bitcoin

Bitcoin infrastructure provider Blockstream has officially revealed the launch date for its eagerly awaited institutional-quality Bitcoin investment funds.

Scheduled to commence on April 1st, these funds will unveil innovative Bitcoin-backed lending and investment options, with the acceptance of external capital starting on July 1.

The cryptocurrency lending sector endured considerable upheaval after the downfall of FTX, which triggered a series of bankruptcies among prominent lenders. Nevertheless, institutional appetite for Bitcoin-native financial offerings continues to increase.

Blockstream disclosed that its new investment vehicles encompass a Bitcoin-backed lending fund, a USD-collateralized borrowing fund, and a hedge fund strategy providing institutional access to Bitcoin markets.

The lending funds will enable investors to obtain liquidity without liquidating their Bitcoin. Blockstream has obtained a multi-billion-dollar investment to reinforce these ventures, as initially reported by Bloomberg.

Earlier this year, introduced two institutional investment funds – Blockstream Income Fund and Blockstream Alpha Fund – to offer direct engagement with its Bitcoin ecosystem. The Income Fund delivers USD-denominated returns by providing Bitcoin-backed loans ranging from $100,000 to $5 million.

Concurrently, the Alpha Fund concentrates on portfolio expansion via infrastructure-based revenue avenues, such as Lightning Network node operations. These funds signify Blockstream’s advancement into asset management, thus providing institutional investors fresh opportunities to interact with Bitcoin-backed financial products. This initiative positions it alongside already established cryptocurrency investment firms such as Grayscale, Pantera, and Galaxy Digital.

Furthermore, the organization recently augmented its footprint in Asia by inaugurating a new office in Tokyo.
